Other Reviews
Over the last few years the Harp has featured has been reviewed by a number of different publications. Here is a selection of extracts:
All hands to the pump
A real ale Elysium, with eight hand pumps and handsome Victorian decor.
Great for ale and sausages
... The charming publican, Bridget, was brought up in the business and has been at the Harp (previously known as the Welsh Harp) for 13 years (ie since 1993).
... What the Harp is really known for is its ales.
... The place was buzzing with patrons - many regulars who seem to feel at home and are well looked after by Bridget and two charming young ladies behind the bar.
Tatiana Von Saxe, West End Extra, 18th August 2006
Boozer
It's a bohemian little oasis that serves good beer (Harvey's Sussex, and a guest or two) and great lunchtime sausages (O'Hagan's) in crusty bread.
Jim Driver, Time Out
Pub Champion
This national treasure of a pub, only a few yards from Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, is usually packed, thanks to it's impressive range of great ales and an atmosphere of joyful conviviality.
London Pub of the Year 2008
Have no fear about getting served, the Harp can boast the most efficient and friendly (all female) bar staff I know of. What they will serve you might be one of the regular ales: Taylor's Landlord, Black Sheep bitter and Harvey's Best or one of three guests; To wash down the beers the pub offers a selection of premium quality, fresh, locally sourced, gourmet award winning sausages.
